Where Exactly is the "Center"?

Where is this elusive non-partisan solution to governing in America? I keep hearing about how nobody wants to listen to liberals and conservatives fight, they just want to find solutions to our problems. There is a lot of gray in this world but there is also a lot of black and white and right or wrong without a lot of wiggle room. For example - these days it seems that multi-national corporations make most of the decisions that affect this country working through lobbying and buying access. Now, where is the center on this issue? How much do we want corporations running our processes - just a little? Maybe half the time? That's the center, right?

Jackie and Dunlap are as confused as I am.
